Rose White has initiated claims against Bradford and Airdale Patient Care Trust aka Bradford; Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust aka Leeds; and Calderdale Patient Care Trust aka Calderdale over serial and ongoing violations of the Sex Discrimination Act and the Human Rights Act and is seeking punitive damages from these three. |
On 29th January 2011 six and a quarter years after I first went to my GP to say I wanted to start the transition process I finally had surgery with Mr Christopher Inglefield in London. The operation had to be a very invasive and painful procedure due to the extended length of transition causing a corresponding reduction in my male genitalia so that there was insufficient material left to fashion into a vagina so that the surgery team had to make a transverse abdominal incision to obtain a section of colon to line the vaginal cavity. The cost of this surgery was £29,400 plus the cost of several follow up appointments with travel costs. This is about 250% higher than the usual surgery. This high cost is an absolute scandalous waste of NHS funds and was caused purely by being deliberately denied the prompt access to surgery that was guaranteed me by EU Human Rights and UK Sex Discrimination legislation. |
